Welcome to The Art Asylum
The Art Asylum is an online art gallery showcasing the talented Artists of Swindon and the surrounding area. It allows prospective buyers to browse the finest local art whilst giving local artists a platform to exhibit their work to a larger audience.
The gallery is a great space to reveal the immense diversity of artistic talent in one place. It provides you with the opportunity to explore your interests, discover new styles and artists, and to meet fellow artist and art lovers.
We differ from other gallerys in that we encourage direct contact between you, the collector, and the artists themselves by cutting out the middle man.
I’ve been fortunate to establish wonderful relationships with many of the listed artists and hope to offer ‘Meet the Artist’ events, exhibitions as we get more established.

For Artists at The Art ASylum, our aim is to help you find homes for your artwork by providing a space for potential clients to explore, and discover your work.
Within that space you’ll be able promote yourself and your work, have the ability to list upto 12 different pieces of art, and detail your all important contact details.
You’ll also have the access to an events calendar to promote your workshops, exhibitions, lectures and any events you may be attending.
I’m also hoping to offer ‘Meet the Artist’ events, and exhibitions as we get more established.
If there are artists you are particularly drawn to, let us know and we’ll keep you updated on any of their news. Sign up to our newsletter will also keep you up to date, including local exhibitions and exclusive online exhibitions PLUS and events or workshops the Artists are holding.
“Don’t think about making art, just get it done. Let everyone else decide if it’s good or bad, whether they love it or hate it. While they are deciding, make even more art.”
I’m Michelle: Artist, photographer, gardener, and grandmother.
I’ve been a professional photographer for nearly 18 years, specialising in floral art, garden, insect, food and still life photography. I also love to play in Photoshop, turning my photographs into unique pieces of Art.
As I turn 60, I’m allowing myself to follow my passion and have the courage to call myself an artist.
But why start an online Art Gallery you may ask?
Well, there are a lot of artists who don’t have an online presence; have never had the opportunity to be represented by a gallery; or have simply never shown their work BUT they produce great work that deserves to be seen and I’d like to give them that opportunity without breaking the bank.
Besides, I also enjoy building websites!

How it Works
We use a membership model for our Artists, this enables us to keep our fee’s low and competitive. Artists benefit from this by having a direct connection with visitors and buyers and not getting penalised with payment fees or commission fees.
Once a membership plan is set up, Artists can create a portfolio by adding their work and information about themselves as an Artist and the important contact details.
The curated space allows visitors a great user experience whilst also giving Artists the freedom and control over their work on a professional platform.
Artists keep their work up to date and the platform helps to spread the word about all the events, exhibitions and news from all the artists. The Art Asylum will promote all the artists within the collective and expect the Artists to promote The Art Asylum in return. As we grow, each Artist will gain all the benefits of being part of our community.
For the Artists within the collective, we have a dedicated space behind the scenes to keep Artists connected to their community.
